Production Worker Able to follow verbal instructions and cooperate with co-workers. Must able to understand basic written and oral English. Must report to any company location, according to company needs. Must be able to lift 45 pounds frequently. Will use arms, legs, hands constantly, walking and moving all shift long. Perform manual labor as needed in Production and other areas. Must possess ability to learn and maintain routine, follow simple verbal instructions and work in cooperation with others. Work must be accomplished in accordance with GMP, HACCP and safety guidelines and procedures. Responsible for contributing to the efficient, profitable operation of the plant. Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of project. May require a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Quality Assurance ManagerBS or BA in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or other science discipline. Minimum of five years of experience in quality control management. SQF practitioner, or equivalent experience with SQF 2000 or other GFSI certification scheme. Physically able to move about in a production and lab environment. Must have visual acuity to evaluate sample appearance and use lab instruments. Must demonstrate taste and aroma sense acuity. Must report to any AFF facility according to company need, sometimes with same-day notice.The Quality Assurance Manager manages the Quality Control Department at all AFF facilities. The position is ultimately responsible for all product quality and for the development, implementation, and administration of the documentation system necessary to maintain a controlled manufacturing process. The manager organizes and staffs AFF Quality Control Departments, conducting employee performance evaluations and assigning projects to the QC staff. The manager must ensure that QC and all applicable staff are trained on Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and provided with sufficient resources to do their jobs. The manager stays current with quality management technique and analytical technology, applying this knowledge to the cost-effective operation of the department. Responsible for all 3rd party audit programs and activities, including but not limited to scheduling, preparing for and participating in audits and any related certification process. Responsible for all customer complaint issues, resolutions and supplier rating/approval related to AFF’s Supplier Approval Program. Maintains a working relationship with inter-and intra-company departments such as Customer Service, Analytical, Production, and R & D regarding resources, production and product development and quality. Assists customers with product issues or technical questions. This position serves as SQF Practitioner and back up to the Vice President of Technical Services, QC Supervisor, and HACCP Coordinator when necessary.This position has 2 plants, East LA and Pacoima. Candidate will report to both according to company needs.
Production PlannerHigh School Diploma plus some courses in math above algebra. Good at mathematical calculations. Good English communication skills. Proficient with computer software programs. Draw up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of production, in association with production supervision. Must meet shipping dates required by customers daily orders. Work with Quality Control to verify formulas for production. Provide production schedules for Production and Quality Control. Confer daily with Production Supervisor to determine status of assigned production. Prepare daily purchase requisitions to obtain materials. Provide shipping/Receving with pull sheet of needed raw materials for next day production. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. This location is located in Los Angeles
Analytical ChemistPerform all in-house analytical testing on incoming raw materials, raw samples and /or finished products, working with minimal supervision. Prepare all standard mobile phase and samples prior to any analytical testing. Perform complex product adjustments to meet quality standards. Maintain accurate records on all work performed. Maintain and calibrate instruments regularly. Work on and optimize new methods for the analysis of samples. Receive instruction and guidance from R & D scientists of all levels. The position has internal contacts with R&D staff, Production, Purchasing and inter-company lab personnel regarding resources, production and procedures. Minimum B.A. /B.S. in related field, or equivalent work experience. Minimum three years experience with gas or liquid chromatography methods. Supervisory and/or manager experience is desirable. Must be able to move about in a production and lab environment. Must have visual acuity to evaluate sample appearance and use lab instruments.This position is located in East Los Angeles CA, but when needed, will report to the Pacoima, CA Plant.
Technical Document SpecialistAA degree or higher in food science, business administration, paralegal, or technical writing or equivalent; excellent English grammar and spelling. Minimum of two years of experience with manufacturing document control/processes preferred Two years of experience with food industry quality control and quality assurance practices and systems. Experience with R&D and Quality Lab documents is a plus. Proficient with MS Office Suite; experience creating spreadsheets. Very organized with the ability to take charge of and complete projects.The focus of the position is to respond to customer inquiries regarding AFF quality systems. The position must understand food law, federal regulations and requirements of regulatory agencies (Federal, State, and other), as well as third-party and customer auditors. The position must understand how these requirements apply to the Company operations, after evaluating Company practices, procedures and documentation in light of those requirements. Should have a complete understanding of compliance requirements for the company. The position must determine the appropriateness of documents or procedures and standardize all documents to adhere to regulatory agency requirements, eliminating over documentation. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with employees, co-workers and managers, while achieving performance standards.This position is located in Pacoima, CA
