Maintenance Mechanic BRequires skilled working knowledge of all maintenance crafts and trades, with expertise in at least one. Experience with PLC's, pneumatic and electric pumps, plumbing, welding, refrigeration and/or air conditioning, VFD programming. Must be able to operate a forklift. Food industry experience is a plus. Candidates must have current, valid driver license.The position maintains all buildings, structures and production equipment in top working order, contributing as part of a team. The position trains others in order to increase the overall knowledge base of the department. Trades with expertise in at least one. Experienced with PLCs, pneumatic and electric pumps, all kinds of plumbing; some welding, refrigeration and/or air conditioning, VFD programming. Will use forklift. Food industry experience is a plus.This position is located in Pacoima, CA
2nd shift SupervisorBackground in production, familiar with production lines and processing machinery.
Must possess basic supervision skills.
Knowledge of safety, sanitation, HACCP and GMP standards and procedures.
Good written and oral English communication skills, basic computer skills.
Able to speak and understand basic Spanish.
Proficient with math conversions using calculator, familiar with metric system, weights and measures.
The position is responsible for all work done on the second shift. Requires knowledge of basic supervision and the ability to solve problems and work unsupervised. The position is a “working” position and may require participation in various production, filling and sanitation tasks. Must follow and enforce GMP and safety guidelines and procedures throughout the shift. Responsible for contributing to the efficient, profitable operation of the plant. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating so as to get along with clients, customers, co-workers and supervisors, while achieving performance standards. This position is located in East Los Angeles, CA. Local Southern California candidates only.
R&D AssistantB.S. Degree in Food Science or other related discipline.
Two years of working experience preferred.
Prepares and performs experiments under supervision. Prepares finished product samples under supervision of an Associate-or-above level R&D Chemist. Assists R&D Chemists in daily work assignments. Performs simple modifications for improvement of existing products, utilizing existing and/or new raw materials. Reports to the Director of Technical Projects but also receives specific instructions from R&D Chemists. Has internal contacts with Quality Control, Production and Flavor Division regarding resources, production and quality procedures. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with employees, co-workers and managers while achieving performance standards.This position is located in Pacoima, CA.
R&D AssociateB. S. in Food Science or related science discipline.
Must be able to fulfill the functions of the Associate R & D Chemist
Must demonstrate excellent taste and aroma sense acuity.

Some supervisory experience and/or training.
Must have visual acuity to evaluate sample appearance and use lab instruments.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds occasionally.

The R & D Chemist analyzes, develops and improves existing and new products using existing and new raw materials and requires little to no supervision doing this work. Matches products supplied by customers and internal personnel from competitors. Calculates costing on all products developed. Directs the evaluation and testing of prototypes. May have some supervisory responsibility directing the work of Assistant and Associate R & D Chemists and technicians. Maintains contacts with Quality Control, Production, inter-company lab personnel, and Sales. Begins having some customer contact as well.This position is located in Pacoima, CA.
Document SpecialistSome post high school education in business administration, paralegal, or technical writing or equivalent; excellent English grammar and spelling.
Two years of experience with food industry quality control and quality assurance practices and systems.
Experience creating procedure documents or contract writing.
Proficient with MS Office Suite; experience creating spreadsheets.
Very organized with the ability to take charge of and complete projects.
Ability to train employees at all levels of the organization, as well as audit training done by others.
The focus of the position is to read, learn and understand the regulations and requirements of regulatory agencies (Federal, State, and other), as well as third-party and customer auditors. The Document Specialist must be able to read and understand Government Regulations as they relate to our business and, interpret how those regulations impact the operational aspects of our business. The Document Specialist must determine the appropriateness of documents or procedures and standardize all documents to adhere to regulatory agency requirements, eliminating over documentation. Seek team collaboration to ensure document validation and effectiveness. Must be able to maintain the review and updating of existing documents while working on other projects including (but not limited to), creating and writing employee training material, conducting facility audits and assisting with the writing of user manuals for the company’s MRP computer programs. In addition, must be able to create, write and edit policies, procedures, and other documentation within the Quality and Information Systems including (but not limited to), Food Safety and HACCP Plans. The Compounder must contribute to the efficient and profitable operation of the plant and maintain a positive work atmosphere, by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with co-workers and managers, while achieving performance standards.This position is located in Los Angeles, CA
Purchasing AssistantMinimum three years of experience in purchasing as a Junior Buyer, Purchasing Assistant or related.
Good written and verbal English skills.
Good math skills.
This position assists the Purchasing Manager in maintaining sufficient inventory levels to meet production deadlines for customer orders at AFP and Mutual Flavors. Responsible for the more routine purchasing activities. Materials purchased are processed and used in the company and are not for direct resale. Acts as a back-up for the Purchasing Manager in case of absence and provides clerical support. Responsible for contributing to the efficient and profitable operation of the plant. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with co-workers and supervisors, while achieving performance standards. R&D CompounderGood communication skills with proficiency in written and verbal English.
Proficiency in math using a calculator, including conversions and some Algebra.
Familiar with a lab environment and the metric system.
