GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The focus of the position is to assist the AFF Team with inquiries regarding regulatory documents needed from manufactures for AFF raw materials and packaging. The Raw Material Document Specialist must read and verify that the information requested is correct and meets AFF’s requirements. The position will maintain organization of documents and update them in AFF’s inventory system so all departments have usage and access. In addition, the Raw Material Document Specialist will help the Certification Specialist with Kosher, Halals, and Organic Information and verifying that new products meet these requirements.   • Responsible for coordinating and ensuring accurate, compliant preparation and timely submission of documents, questionnaires and inquiries required by customers, and other external parties ranging from routine to complex.
  • Complete formal written response to customer inquiries related to regulatory affairs and product certifications.
  • Participate in the formula conversion process from R&D to active product, and all duties related to the procedure including regulatory review and application for certifications where necessary (religious, Organic, or others).
  • Provide consultation to quality department in the audit process for customers and regulatory authorities, participating and assist in the audits where necessary.
  • Advise Quality and Food Safety Mangers regarding impact of change orders on current regulatory approvals.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. or Master’s degree in in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar field of study.

10 years of experience creating flavors from flavor ingredients currently available worldwide. Must be strong in sweet/fruit flavors – namely berries, tropical, super fruits – and in unique non-characterizing flavors for use in food and beverage industries. Knowledge in savory a definite plus. Ability to create ethnic flavors and pair flavors together to create an impact on our customers. Must be well versed in keeping ahead of the trends and continuing to source the newest unique flavor ingredients available.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of US, EU, Asian, and/or South American regulations strongly desired.
