General Description of Duties
The Assistant Controller position reports to the Director of Finance with dotted-line reporting to the Financial Controller. The Assistant Controller will perform various accounting, reporting, and costing tasks and will be the lead role in the SAP Financial Implementation Project as listed in the essential job functions. The Assistant Controller will serve as a backup to the Financial Controller to ensure continuity of month-end accounting close, reporting and compliance during the absence of the Financial Controller. This individual must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with vendors, customers, co-workers, supervisors, senior management and other internal departments, while achieving and enhancing performance standards.
Essential Job Functions
ACCOUNTING:
- Perform the AFF-US month-end closing duties relating to COGS reconciliations, inventory journal entries, inventory valuations, product disposals, and inventory reserves.
- Maintain fixed asset records and upload transactions to SAP.
- Upload the Trial Balance from Microsoft Dynamics to SAP; ensure integrity and alignment of system data.
- Prepare the monthly submission to the TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) for the Alcohol Drawback.
- Review the monthly Blackline reconciliations and submit timely to Corporate Finance.
- Review and release Accounts Payable disbursements for accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and submit annual 1099 forms in compliance with IRS regulations.
- Review and record property tax transactions.
- Prepare and submit 571-L Business Property Statement filings.
- Maintain business licenses and permits and ensure timely renewals.
- Review and report on the AR balances for Monster sales and collection activities.
- Assist with external and internal audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
- Develop and monitor internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), company policies and regulatory standards.
- Review current processes and provide recommendations for continuous improvement and clearly communicate relevant financial information to executive management.
ANALYSIS & REPORTING:
- Prepare AFF Worldwide Quarterly Financial Review package including sales, margin and inventory metrics.
- Analyze and report on the Monthly Sales Volumes (KG) and Gross Margin calculations and profitability trends for AFF Worldwide.
- Prepare analysis reporting on cost and pricing trends, changes made and effects on margins.
- Perform product manufacturing, packaging and labor costs, for all product categories, when and as needed, and analyze these costs to improve our cost monitoring process.
- Collect and analyze the material costs of the purchased raw materials
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a Standard Material and Labor Costing System.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
SAP IMPLEMENTATION:
- AFF Project Lead for the system migration project from Dynamics to SAP S/4 HANA while working with the Monster SAP Implementation Team.
- Actively assist the configuration and customization of SAP finance modules (e.g., FI, CO) to meet AFF’s manufacturing business needs and map the process flows.
- Work with the Monster SAP Implementation Team, develop and execute project plans, manage timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring adherence to SAP best practices for manufacturing businesses.
- Train and guide AFF Finance Team members on best practices and procedures within the SAP finance modules - FI and CO.
- Work closely with Monster and AFF Finance and IT teams to allocate resources, mitigate risks, and ensure timely completion of the project deliverables.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (Accounting Degree required).
- CMA or CPA Certificate (preferred).
- Strong skills in SAP Financial Accounting (FI) and Controlling (CO) and Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables and V-LOOKUP) and PowerPoint are required.
- Active role in SAP Implementation Projects (specifically the finance modules – FI and CO) is preferred.
- Experience with Black-Line or similar account reconciliation tools (preferred).
- Proficient in cost accounting, statistics, charting, modeling, and trend analyses.
- 5 years of general and/or cost accounting experience (standard costing environment preferred)
- 3 years of managerial experience with supervision of an accounting staff (required)
- Occasional visits to the manufacturing floor, requiring adherence to food safety protocols.
- Experience in the beverage and/or flavor industries (preferred).
- Excellent interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) to work together with co-workers, management and various other departments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy and focused on quality of work.
- Proven ability to meet established deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Must report to any company facility according to company need, sometimes with same-day notice.
