activities and helping maintain sufficient inventory levels to meet production

General Description of Duties
This position assists the Purchasing Manager in maintaining sufficient inventory levels to meet production deadlines for customer orders at American Fruits & Flavors. Responsible for routine purchasing activities. Materials purchased are processed and used in the company and are not for direct resale. Acts as a backup for the Purchasing Manager in case of absence, and cross-trained on all Procurement responsibilities. Responsible for contributing to the efficient and profitable operation of the plant. This individual must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with vendors, customers, co-workers and supervisors, while achieving and enhancing performance standards.
Essential Job Functions
- Print re-order listing; evaluate and order as needed quantities based on minimums and maximums set in system.
- Place orders with approved vendors via Purchase Requisitions.
- Meet with vendors when needed.
- Maintain vendor file for products purchased; maintain a minimum of two alternative sources, when possible.
- Research lowest prices available and verify pricing.
- Update pricing and shipping information.
- Communicate promptly with appropriate departments.
- Verify that purchase orders have proper authorization and correct prices and quantities.
- Must have regular, punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
