Price and Cost Analyst

General Description of Duties

This position is required to regularly review and update all of products pricing and related costing. This position reports to the Director of Finance and will have a dotted-line reporting to the Director of Sales. The Price and Cost Analyst will perform various pricing, costing and related accounting tasks as listed in the essential job functions. This individual must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with those inside and outside the company, while achieving and enhancing performance standards.

Essential Job Functions

PRICING:
- Establish selling prices on existing products using the unit pricing module of the FABS (Food and Beverage System) while maintaining current or acceptable margins, based on input from the R&D, Purchasing, Customer Care, and Sales departments.
- Periodically review and proactively update of all products pricing prior to expiration date. The review should be conducted whereby all products are reviewed on a quarterly basis (at a minimum) each year, or as needed, depending upon market conditions and trends.
- Review raw material (i.e., ingredients) on a periodic basis and prepare “where-used” analyses to determine the price impact of any significant raw material cost changes.
- On a quarterly basis, present to the Pricing Review Committee all the proposed price changes (with explanations, reasoning and back-up on proposed price changes) and submit the approved price changes to the customer prior to the beginning of the next quarter.
- Update the Sales Quote System regularly based on demand from new customer purchase orders and from the Sales Team quotes and complete the updates within 24 hours of request.
- Assist in the development of more efficient pricing strategy and process.

COSTING:
- Working with the Purchasing, Customer Care, and R&D Teams, stay up-to-date on market and seasonal conditions (supply/demand) of various commodity products/ingredients and anticipate trends to adjust pricing accordingly at the right time, and based on current inventories and supply chain criteria.
- Update and maintain the total unit costs of FABS by reviewing the monthly AFF purchasing and external market data.
- Perform product manufacturing, packaging and labor costs, for all product categories, when and as needed, and analyze these costs to improve our cost monitoring process.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a Standard Material and Labor Costing System.

REPORTING:
- Prepare the monthly submission to the TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) for the Alcohol Drawback.
- Analyze and report on the sales volumes and gross margin calculations and profitability trends.
- Assist in the monthly accounting close relating to COGS reconciliations, inventory journal entries, inventory valuations, product disposals, and inventory reserves.
- Prepare analysis reporting of cost and pricing trends, changes made and effects on margins.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree (Accounting Degree preferred)
- Strong skills with MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems and Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables and V-LOOKUP) and PowerPoint
- Experience in working with and managing large databases within an integrated operational and financial systems.
- Proficient in cost accounting, statistics, charting, modeling, and trend analyses
- 3 years of general and/or cost accounting experience (standard costing environment preferred)
- Experience in the beverage and/or flavor industries would be preferred
- Strong acumen with numbers, analysis, systems, and pricing/costing concepts
- Excellent interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) to work together with various departments
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy & quality of work
- Must report to any company facility according to company need, sometimes with same-day notice.

Compensation Range: Actual salary/hourly wages are determined upon a variety of factors such as level of experience, skills, education and /or certifications, and location.
