EHS Assistant

General Description of Duties
The EHS Assistant is responsible for working with EHS Manager and team on the development and administration of safety programs and policies that result in company-wide compliance with regulatory agency requirements. The position promotes and acts to create and maintain a safe and healthy working environment. Must contribute to the efficient and profitable operation of San Fernando, Pacoima, and Los Angeles plants. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with those inside and outside the company.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist with maintain update the safety documents (JSA's, SOP's, or Policies etc.)
- Assist with safety inspection for equipment's and mechanical safety guards.
- Assist with safety trainings on new JSA's, SOP's, or Policies etc.
- Assist with the implementing safety policies. Such as HazCom (Right to Know), Power Industrial Truck, Hearing Conservation, PPE program, Fall Protection, LOTO, and other Safety programs as well environmental programs.
- Assist with employee work related injury investigation and ensure that the corrective action is completed.
- Complete weekly and monthly inspection on Emergency Equipment (Fire Extinguisher, First Aid, Emergency Shower etc.)
- Assist with AQMD, Stormwater, Wastewater, CARB and other permits, reporting, and regulatory compliance to ensure adherence to environmental standards.
- Track and manage the AQMD permits, ensuring all reporting deadlines, additional requirements, and record-keeping obligations are met.
- Maintain and update the SDS program for Maintenance, Sanitation, and Janitors chemicals or non- product materials.
- Must be able to enter and inspect company facilities, walking into production and warehouse areas (which may be wet at times) to monitor hazards, equipment conditions, temperatures, noise levels, and employee work practices.
- Support the Corporate Trainer in delivering training programs to new organizations.
- Perform data entry and record-keeping to maintain accurate documentation of compliance activities.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure alignment with EHS policies and procedures
- Must be able to climb ladders, bend, and stoop as needed.
- Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures pertaining to Quality Manual, Food Security/Food Defense, Sanitation, cGMP's, and HACCP/Food Safety.
- Regular, punctual attendance is required.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1-Year hands on experience.
- Knowledge of Industrial Cal/OSHA, and Federal OSHA, policies, programs, environmental regulations (EPA) MS Office software.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, subordinates, customers, and clients; good verbal and written English skills.
- Must report to any AFF facility according to company need, sometimes with same-day .
- Must have a valid California Driver License, with a good driving record and automobile insurance limit that fulfill company requirements.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
- This is a TEMP-HIRE position.
