Flavor LAB Assistant

General Description of Duties

This position works in conjunction with Flavor Chemists to perform the activities of the department, including timely completion of customer samples in accordance with GMP and safety guidelines. Assists Flavor Chemists in daily work assignments. Cooperates with all other departments, promoting information exchange and teamwork within the department. The Assistant is responsible for the accuracy of batch formulation and compliance with company policy, GMP and safety procedures. Reports to the Flavor Chemist Supervisor but also receives instruction from Flavor Chemists. The Assistant must contribute to the efficient and profitable operation of R&D and must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with co-workers and managers, while achieving performance standards.

Essential Job Functions

- Accurately compounds new and/or existing products, including juice concentrates and flavors, based on defined requirements and following specific instructions and formulas.
- Performs all Q.C. analysis and required tests on every product compounded.
- Ensures timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Assists in the preparation and packing of stock samples.
- Maintains sufficient stock of lab raw materials and supplies to fulfill customer requests.
- Works in a fast-paced environment, walking and standing constantly throughout the day.
- Maintains organized and clean working area.
- Adheres to all safety procedures and policies.
- Has regular, punctual attendance.
- Performs other duties and special projects as required and assigned by Management.

Requirements

- Degree in Science, some lab experience or a combination of both.
- Good communication skills with proficiency in written and verbal English.
- Proficiency in math using a calculator, including conversions and some Algebra.
- Familiar with a lab environment and the metric system.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Some post high school education is highly desirable.
- Please note that work location will chance eventually to San Fernando once our new Corporate Building is completed.
